Don’t look back all the time

“Hindsight is a perfect science”. It is easy to know how we should have reacted to any given situation after it happened. Afterwards, we always know better, or we feel guilty about our choices. But there is a third option: we can choose to make peace with our choices. When we live on God’s path, we make choices in His presence. No, we don’t pray in general for God’s will when we make choices; we deliberately use the route markers of Colossians 3:17 and 3:23. We put God’s glory and other people’s needs first. These are our guidelines, our road signs. We don’t try to advantage ourselves. Of course, this doesn’t mean that we will only make good choices in future – we are only human. We don’t always know what the right choice is. But we can at least live with our choice afterwards if we make every choice with the intention of honouring God and helping other people.
